Orbit Software, Inc. (OSI) is pleased to announce our FREE Route Optimization Contest. This contest is to give back to help improve, effectiveness and efficiency of student transportation programs in the United States. This opportunity provides a district in the United States the ability to utilize Orbit Software’s team of elite individuals and BusBoss1 routing system, to optimize their current routing structure. BusBoss has a state of the art fleet optimization program that will utilize walk to stop distances, school distances, attendance and ride zones based on school policies, to optimally locate bus stops and create the most efficient bus routes for your district. This opportunity is open to any school district in the United States that submits an application per the guidelines and requirements below. School Districts that are currently using a competitive software program are also encouraged to apply.

Purpose ─The FREE Route Optimization Service Includes:
Orbit Software, Inc. will pick one school district in the United States to receive a full bus route optimization of their current rider eligible public school students. This will include Orbit routing experts working with the district to gather the required data, which includes data to optimize stops, stop placement, rider eligibility, fleet needs, and number of buses used for routes. OSI will then create reports to provide the district with details on passenger lists, cost analysis, and have a meeting to present the results. Orbit guarantees a savings! There is no purchase required, and the district can do what they like with the reports provided.
The Value and Impact:
The value of this contest is based upon the district’s current routing structure. There is a potential savings of at least $30,000 by the elimination of one bus. Prior route optimizations that OSI has performed netted a savings of over $100,000.00 per year. This is done simply by utilizing the districts employees and their knowledge as well as the BusBoss program’s ability to determine the most efficient ways to route your students. A district official will need to be available throughout the optimization process to answer any questions, and to provide input on streets, students, and any special information that would assist OSI in optimizing their routes.
Eligibility:
To be considered for this service, the school district must be located in the United States, must utilize a Student Information System for Central Registration, and must be willing to share their Student and Routing Data with Orbit Software Inc. (OSI) (a signed non-disclosure and confidentiality agreement will be provided). At the award and completion of the service the district must also agree in writing to allow OSI to use their name and information in press releases as well as website, social media and any other marketing and promotional materials. All completed applications will be considered for the contest. Applicants must document their reasoning and desire for the service. This is a potential savings of at least $30,000 per year for just one bus being taken off the road. The opportunity for cost savings for the district is exponential and therefore the district will be required to fill out the questionnaire in its entirety. Application Requirements:
All contest applications are to be submitted on our website http://www.busboss.com/route-optimization-contest-2015-application. Applications will be reviewed starting April 1, 2015. The deadline for submission is May 10, 2015 at 4:00PM EST.
Applications for this contest will not be returned and will become the property of Orbit Software, Inc. The application must provide a complete description of the pupil transportation operation.

Selection Process:
OSI will evaluate every application received in full. There will be a scoring system in place to determine if the application has been accepted to move on to final decision. OSI will make the final decision to determine the winner of the contest. The selection is final and there is no provision for protesting the decision. The school district chosen will be contacted and will have two weeks to provide OSI with their data. In the event that this does not take place OSI will then choose the runner up.
Timelines:
Deadline for Application Submission: May 10, 2015 at 4:00 PM EST
Contest Award Announced: May 15, 2015
Data Collection Deadline: June 1, 2015
If data has not been collected the runner up will be awarded: June 5, 2015
After data collection, OSI will work closely with the District to analyze their current routing and complete the optimization service. At the completion, the District will receive various reports as well as have a meeting to discuss the results and the potential savings.
